About the Book Club
A reading collective, not a reading list
Founded in 2016 around a single borrowed paperback, Litura Reading Collective now gathers each month in bookshop back rooms, living rooms, and online. We alternate fiction and non-fiction, publish a discussion guide with every pick, and keep the circles small enough that everyone gets to speak.
You never have to finish the book to join the conversation. Half-read opinions are welcome; performed expertise is not.

An ageing English butler takes a motoring holiday through the West Country and, mile by mile, unpicks a lifetime of loyal service. Ishiguro writes restraint the way other novelists write catastrophe — quietly, and then devastatingly. Our circle meets twice this month to argue about what Stevens actually knows.

The Litura Council
The people who choose the books
Five seats run the collective: the founder, the president, the event coordinator, the book curator and the outreach team.
Founder
Founder & Chief Reader
Started the collective in 2016 with three friends, one borrowed table and a paperback nobody else wanted to discuss. Still chooses the first book of every year.
President
Alabi Ahmed
Keeps the collective running between books: membership, the council's decisions, and the standard of hospitality every circle is held to.
Event Coordinator
Jordan Williams
Owns the calendar — chapter circles, author evenings, quiet nights, festival meetups — and the unglamorous work of chairs, rooms and timing.
Book Curator
Morgan Taylor
Reads far more than is reasonable so that members do not have to. Builds each shortlist, alternates genres and writes the discussion guides.
Outreach Team
The people who make sure the door actually opens: school donations, new-member welcomes, translation drives and our regional reading circles.
