A warmly lit private library with dark wooden bookshelves and a leather armchair

Est. 2016 · A reading collective

Litura Reading Collective

Read deeply. Talk freely. Belong somewhere.

A community for curious readers, meaningful conversations, and books worth sharing.

Welcome

Welcome to Litura Reading Collective

We are glad you found us. Whether you read a chapter a night or devour a novel in a weekend, there is a chair here with your name on it. Come for the book of the month, stay for the conversation — and leave with three more titles you did not expect to love.

About the Book Club

A reading collective, not a reading list

Founded in 2016 around a single borrowed paperback, Litura Reading Collective now gathers each month in bookshop back rooms, living rooms, and online. We alternate fiction and non-fiction, publish a discussion guide with every pick, and keep the circles small enough that everyone gets to speak.

You never have to finish the book to join the conversation. Half-read opinions are welcome; performed expertise is not.

Our Mission

Read deeply. Talk freely.

To make serious reading a shared, generous, and unpretentious habit — and to build a community where curiosity outranks credentials.

  • Curate with care

Six to eight titles a year, chosen by members, spanning genres and centuries.

  • Host honest conversation

Disagreement is the point. Grace is the rule.

  • Keep the door open

Free to join, easy to attend, no quiz at the door.

Book of the Month · September

The Remains of the Day

by Kazuo Ishiguro · 245 pages

An ageing English butler takes a motoring holiday through the West Country and, mile by mile, unpicks a lifetime of loyal service. Ishiguro writes restraint the way other novelists write catastrophe — quietly, and then devastatingly. Our circle meets twice this month to argue about what Stevens actually knows.

From the Collective

In members' words

  • I came for one book and stayed for the arguments. Nobody here pretends to have finished the footnotes.

    Mara V.

  • The monthly circle turned reading from a private habit into the best conversation of my week.

    Daniel O.

    Member since 2023

  • Thoughtful picks, zero snobbery. I've read more in a year here than in the decade before it.
